The
biggest announcement at Google I/O 2014 was the developer preview of next
version of Android OS system after kitkat .Simply names as Android L. It is a
huge leap over from the previous version and brings great enhancements in
performance and security of the OS.
Here
are the Top 5 features of next version of Android L:
1. Android L is not just for your
Phone
This OS will infiltrate
all your devices including mobile phones, smart watches, your television with
Android TV, and even your car with all new Android Auto. The new OS will
connect all your devices and make your life smooth and super easy.
2. Android’s New Material Design Philosophy
The new Android is more
colourful, flatter and multi-layered. Now there is seamless transition between applications.
Material design works with UI elements and absorbs colours from art work and
photos to ad visual flair. Even the buttons design have been changed to a triangle,
a circle and a square.
3. Notifications for Every Screen
Now you can find a
notification dropped at anywhere on the device .Even when your device is locked.
A new kind of notification called dubbed heads-up is enabled in the device
which can be pulled down even when you ae running an application and it can
just pop up from top of the screen to know what is the notification and then
resume to the app without affecting your work.
4. It will run on new and faster ART
runtime
ART stands for Android
Runtime and is much faster than old Dalvik complier which was the source for
all the previous versions of Android. ART is fully 64-bit compatible and whence
will be able to take full advantage of the 64-bit processor providing smooth
and lag free experience to the users.
5. Better Battery Saver using Project
Volta
Project Volt helps
users to optimize specific activities which are affecting the devices battery
life .Now users can optimize power consumption in applications and also it
provides with an option of changing the intensive battery consumption work like
downloading be scheduled at the time of phone charging.
And above all it also
adds a new battery saver mode which slows down the CPU, cuts the background data
and limits the screen refresh rate.
Android
L is still in working phase and in the developer’s category but we can expect
it to launch anytime next year. However Google has released preview system
images for Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 so you can try your hand on the devices.
