The biggest announcement at Google I/O 2014 was the developer preview of next version of Android OS system after kitkat .Simply names as Android L. It is a huge leap over from the previous version and brings great enhancements in performance and security of the OS.
Here are the Top 5 features of next version of Android L:

A new kind of notification called dubbed heads-up is enabled in the device which can be pulled down even when you ae running an application and it can just pop up from top of the screen to know what is the notification and then resume to the app without affecting your work.
4.      It will run on new and faster ART runtime

ART stands for Android Runtime and is much faster than old Dalvik complier which was the source for all the previous versions of Android. ART is fully 64-bit compatible and whence will be able to take full advantage of the 64-bit processor providing smooth and lag free experience to the users.
5.      Better Battery Saver using Project Volta

Project Volt helps users to optimize specific activities which are affecting the devices battery life .Now users can optimize power consumption in applications and also it provides with an option of changing the intensive battery consumption work like downloading be scheduled at the time of phone charging.
And above all it also adds a new battery saver mode which slows down the CPU, cuts the background data and limits the screen refresh rate.
